Phillip DeWease, first tenor for the group, was there at the inception of Tru Faith. He has been singing his entire life and active within his local church. Jesus Christ became his Savior when he was young and gifted him with the love of music and the talent to sing. In 1981 he began singing in Southern Gospel quartets. He was married and raised three boys. In 2008 his wife of 38 years passed away following a lingering illness. Three years later God brought a new family into his life. He married Teresa who has two grown sons. All five boys are involved in ministry in various capacities. With eight grandchildren it makes for lively family gatherings! Phillip praises God for allowing him to be part of the ministry of Tru Faith.
Lead- Travis Richards
Travis Richards has spent a lifetime sharing the message of faith through music. His journey began in the 1980s when he started singing gospel music with his father’s group, laying the foundation for a lifelong ministry rooted in harmony, heart, and heritage. With a rich, soulful voice and a deep love for gospel music, Travis quickly became a standout in the Southern Gospel scene.
For many years, he has continued to bless audiences with his passion and vocal talent. In a new chapter of his musical journey, Travis, alongside longtime friends, Phillip DeWease and Alex Ballenger, co-founded Tru Faith— a group born out of a shared commitment to spread the gospel and encourage others through song.
Off the stage, Travis is a devoted family man. He shares his life with his loving wife, Laura, and together they’ve built a beautiful family, which includes two children and four cherished grandchildren. Whether he’s singing on stage or spending time with his grandkids, Travis Richards continues to live out his faith with humility, joy, and unwavering dedication.
Baritone- Aaron Atkins
Aaron Atkins is a passionate gospel singer who has been singing his entire life. Raised in a musical family, Aaron traveled and performed with them from a young age, developing a deep love for ministry through music. He continued his musical journey at Lee University, where he was a member of the renowned Lee Singers. Aaron also served as a worship leader at a church for two years, using his voice and heart for worship to lead others into God’s presence. Today, he has been a part of Tru Faith since February of 2025, continuing his lifelong mission of sharing the message of hope and faith through song. Aaron is blessed with a beautiful wife, Jayce, and two wonderful children, River and Harper, who are the joy of his life.
Bass- Kenneth Alexander
Kenneth Alexander has been singing a long time (since his youth). He always watched and listened to his mom, aunts, uncles, and grandfather, sing and play music. As a lifelong lover of music, Kenneth has been blessed to sing different genres of music. He sang in a band, individually, and in church choir. Kenneth‘s roots are planted deep in the church. His passion for singing recently led him to an opportunity in January 2025 to sing for the first time in a gospel Quartet called Tru Faith. His God-given talent for a deep soulful bass voice, with a heartfelt delivery, continue to uplift and connect with audiences.
Outside of music, Kenneth is a veteran marine who loves his country and the outdoors. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Leslie, and a proud father to three amazing sons. Also a Pappy G to his beautiful granddaughter. Whether he is singing on stage or spending time with his family, God is first in his life. Kenneth lives by faith in Jesus Christ (Yeshua) whom is at the center of it all, sharing his gifts with humility and love.
